Annihilator First Quarter Recap!!
April 28th, 2007
The brand new Annihilator monster
truck made its debut in Montgomery, AL January 5th-6th at the
Garrett Coliseum. Greg made it to the Semi-Finals in racing both
nights and put forth a solid freestyle Saturday night, getting the
bugs worked out of the truck.
The next stop would be at the
Georgia Dome for the annual Monster Jam event. Greg would be
eliminated in the first round of racing by eventual winner John
Seasock, now behind the wheel of Batman. Greg continued getting a
feel for the truck in freestyle, pulling off a couple of nice sky
wheelies and walking away with a score of 13. This event will be
seen on SPEED Channel later this year.
From Atlanta, it was off to
Evansville, Indiana for another Monster Jam event at Roberts
Stadium. The Friday night show would see Greg have a solid showing
in the wheelie contest earning a score of 20, and and make a
semi-finals appearance in racing. Greg nearly took the first win of
the season in the donut contest, scoring a 27, but Grave Digger's 30
took the victory. Freestyle would result in a score of 19 for
Annihilator.
Saturday night in Evansville
would see yet another semi-finals appearance in racing only to lose
to the eventual winner, and scores of 19 in the wheelie contest, 13
in the donut contest, and a 20 in freestyle.
Indianapolis would be the next
stop on the Monster Jam tour for Annihilator and the RCA Dome event
is always one of the biggest of the year. Freestyle would be the
highlight of the evening as Greg put Annihilator through its paces,
but broke a front tie rod ending his evening with a score of 21.
After a couple weeks off, it was
up to Charlotte, NC for a weekend of events at the Bobcats Arena.
Friday night saw some success for Annihilator. First Greg tied for
the wheelie contest lead with a score of 27, only to be knocked off
the top spot by Grave Digger once again. Racing would see the first
final round appearance of the year, but Whit Carlton in Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle got the jump and the win. Saturday night would
see a score of 18 in the wheelie contest and a first round exit in
racing.
A few more weeks off and then it
was down to Pensacola, FL for Greg's first Thunder Nationals events
of the year at the Civic Center. Friday night saw scores of 15, 17,
and 16 in the wheelie, donut, and freestyle contests and a first
round exit in racing. Saturday Greg broke an axel while scoring a 19
in the wheelie contest. With some thrashing, Annihilator was back
for racing and made it to the semi-finals. In freestyle Greg was on
his game and walked away with a very respectable score of 24.
And that pretty much sums up the
first quarter of 2007 for the Annihilator team. A good, busy
schedule allowed Greg to really get Annihilator dialed in during the
month of January, but the schedule was pretty light in February and
March. Greg is currently booking Annihilator for the summer
schedule, so don't waste and contact us today for more information
on having us at your next show!!
